I regularly use the surface current data from SLGO's Ocean Forecasts web application in my Experimental Oceanography teaching class; it helps my students to make comparisons between current observations collected at sea aboard the Coriolis II at Mission Internship and digital forecasts delivered online. This is a very instructive exercise that allows students to better understand the complexity of currents in the Gulf.
The surface currents and ice concentration archives and forecast available on SLGO portal are extremely important for our projects, particularly aiming in better understanding the drift and marine dispersion, but also in building bridges between research, government operational services, users and policy makers.
In my research project, I regularly use the surface currents data made available through SLGO's Ocean forecast Web application. I also use the measured data at the scientific buoy IML-4. SLGO allows me to quickly and easily access the data that are important to my work.

We use historical data of freshwater runoffs and temperature (satellite imagery) to study the relationship between environmental conditions in the upper estuary of the St. Lawrence and abundance, growth and condition of fish larvae.

As a data producer in operational oceanography, we issue daily forecasts of water levels, currents and surface temperature, and ice. For us, SLGO represents an effective means of communication that allows users to have access to our forecast at the right time, without delay and without any intermediary.

Members of the Capelin Observers Network (CON) now report their observations on spawning capelin on the St. Lawrence Global Observatory's (SLGO) portal. This collaboration between observers, SLGO and Fisheries and Oceans Canada allows us to keep the Registry alive and accessible. The CON couldn't find better partners to document spawning capelin, share and disseminate its information.

The themes Environment and Navigation [SLGO] provide interesting data in real or near real time to all users of the St. Lawrence. All you need is an electronic tool that has a connection to the Internet to get access to measured and expected water level or to expected tidal currents and to surface water temperature. If you want to plan ahead, SLGO can offer you the full range of data available for the desired period.

Since the beginning of my career in environment, I have refer to the Atlas of Bank Restoration Sites of the St. Lawrence River and use its files to identify and develop realistic projects which were subjected to a rigorous analysis. I am greatly thankful to SLGO that allows access to this useful tool for my work and I invite you to keep it available as long as possible.

I use your web site to know the ice conditions before I go out on the St. Lawrence river with my ice canoe team. This allows us to secure our practices on the river and get an idea of the paths to choose when there is ice in strong current. The data you provide considerably increases our safety on the river in winter.
