The St. Lawrence Global Observatory held its first Annual general meeting on October 25, 2007 in Rimouski. Members elected the first Board of directors of this non-profit corporation. This major milestone is a result of the steady efforts of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the SLGO.

The vision of this new corporation, according to its proposed 2007-2011 business plan, is to provide timely access to data and information from a network of member organizations for the sustainable management of the St. Lawrence ecosystem. Furthermore, the SLGO mission is to foster easier access to data and information, to facilitate data dissemination and exchange by clustering the various data producing organizations in order to efficiently meet their needs and those of their clients, to share the collective knowledge and to support decision-making processes. SLGO headquarters are located in Rimouski at 310 allée des Ursulines.
